CommonTom exists to share ideas, experiences and provide advice for all people. We encourage thoughtful contributions and discussions on our posts and in our community discussion boards. We celebrate diversity of view, however we also know the value of providing safe, welcoming environments that encourage a wide range of people to engage in meaningful conversations.
As common people, we celebrate diversity and the strengths of every person. We do not condone any behaviour that attemps to disempower or dehumanise any individual or groups of individuals – instead we call on our community to celebrate our diversity and champion our unique strengths, working together to make us all better individually, and as a collective.
Each participant in the CommonTom community is responsible for maintaining these standards.
Threats of violence and incitement
CommonTom does not condone content or actions that threaten violence, or incite violence against anyone. We do not condone content or actions that encourage violence, or incite violence against anyone.
Hate Speech
CommonTom does not allow content that promotes violence or hatred against people based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, age, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity.
We will not tolerate accounts or posts that glorify, downplay, trivialise or celebrate violence, suffering, abuse, or death of individuals or groups. This includes the use of science or pseudo-scientific claims to dehumanise, disempower, or pathologise others. We will not allow calls for intolerance, exclusion, or segreation based on characteristics, nor do we allow the glorification of groups which do any of the above.
Harassment
CommonTom exists to celebrate diversity and champion the struggle of every day people. We appreciate diversity and celebrate healthy debate, however we will not tolerate harassment, which includes:
- Bullying, threatening, or shaming someone, or posting things likely to encourage others to do so
- Using CommonTom comments or community discussion boards to in a way intended to annoy, harrass any individual
- Reviewing businesses, products or individuals in a harmful or abusive manner
Privacy and Reputation
CommonTom does not condone the sharing of private communication between private individuals without the explicit consent of all parties to the communication. We will not allow posting of content that violates others privacy, including sensitive or confidential information, including any non-public information.
We do not condone publishing private or identifying information about an individual, including the aggregation of publicly available information to target, shame, harass, intimidate, blackmail, threaten or endanger any person(s).
We will not tolerate the posting of explicit or intimate images taken or posted without the subject’s express consent.
Deceptive Conduct
CommonTom does not condone deceptive conduct, such as posting content or impersonating a person or organisation in an way that is likely to deceive people. Parody and satire content must be clearly labelled as such, so that people are aware that is what you are doing.
CommonTom must not be used for phishing or fraud. Tags, links, titles, or other metadata used in a misleading way is strictly forbidden.
All posts and comments that directly or indirectly result in the publishing author or their family receiving compensation, free goods/services or anything of value in connection with the topic of the conversation or post, must make clear of these benefits.
Graphic Content
CommonTom does not gratuitously graphic or disturbing media. We do not allow pornographic images or videos. We do not allow erotic writing and non-graphic erotic images.
Promotion and Glorification of Self-Harm
CommonTom appreciates that life is hard and we each have our own individual battles. We are supportive community that supports all members. We do not allow activities, comments or posts that encourage, promote or glorify acts of self-harm, such as cutting, eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia, and suicide.

Exploitation of Minors
CommonTom does not allow content promoting the sexual or violent exploitation of minors, including the sexualisation of fictional minors.
How to Report a Violation
If you find a post or comment that violates these rules, please use this form to provide more detail or to report the other conduct you believe violates our rules. Additionally, you can send us an email to CommonTom@outlook.com.
If You Break The Rules
We strive to be fair, but we reserve the right to remove or suspend content, without notice, for any reason, particularly to protect our services, infrastructures, users, or community. If you attempt to evade suspension by creating new accounts and posts, we will suspend your new accounts and posts.
Notice
Following investigating or disabling content associated with your account, we will notify you, unless we believe your account is automated or operating in bad faith, or that notifying you is likely to cause, maintain or exacerbate harm to someone.
Appeals
If you believe your account, posts or comments have been removed, restricted or disabled in error, or believe there is relevant context we are not aware of in reaching our determination, you can write to us at CommonTom@outlook.com. We will consider all good faith efforts to appeal.
